Who is MOTText?
MOTText is a service used by garages to help manage customer records, vehicle records, MOT reminders, service reminders and related booking activity.

What customer data may be processed?
Where a garage uses MOTText, the information stored may include some or all of the following, depending on what the garage records and what is needed to provide reminder services:
- Title, forename and surname
- Mobile number
- Email address
- Telephone number
- Postal address
- Vehicle registration number
- Vehicle make and model
- Vehicle VIN
- MOT expiry date
- Annual service expiry date
- Preferred reminder method
- Booking-related information
Why is customer data used?
Customer data may be used for the following purposes:
- Sending MOT reminders
- Sending service reminders
- Sending manual notifications created by the garage
- Processing booking-related notifications
- Handling customer responses where automated response systems are used
- Maintaining service records and reminder history for audit purposes
- Supporting system maintenance, security, incident management and legal compliance where necessary
Who provided the data?
In most cases, customer data is provided to MOTText by the garage using the system, or by the customer directly where a booking or response is made through a process connected to the garage's use of MOTText.
Do we sell customer data?
No. Personal data is not sold or leased to third parties, and it is not shared, sold, rented or traded with marketing or promotional partners without consent.
How long is customer data kept?
Customer data is retained only for as long as it is needed for the service, to support the garage's use of MOTText, to meet legal obligations, or to deal with valid disputes, claims or legal processes.
Some data may need to be retained for administrative, audit or legal reasons even after an account is no longer active.
Where is the data processed?
Personal data is processed in the United Kingdom. For hosting and maintenance purposes, personal data is located in the United Kingdom.
